Sakura season in Japan

In April each year, Japanese enjoy picnicking under the beautiful flowers of the sakura, also known as  Japanese cherry trees, which only bloom for a few glorious days every year. The sakura bloom begins in the south and migrates  to the north steadily throughout the month. Every region of Japan has its celebrated sakura-viewing locales, but famous ones include the Heian temple garden in Kyoto, the grounds of Osaka castle, the grounds of Hikone castle, and Mt. Yoshino near Nara – a mountain completely covered in sakura.
