Apple’s “Unslow” 3G iPhone commercial pretends to demonstrated the performance of the device over the 3G network. To put it to the test, I took my own 3G iPhone to the heart of AT&T’s coverage area in MA (Boylston St. in Boston just across the street from Apple’s flagship store). The video shows a side by side performance comparison running through an identical set of actions. The results tell the story.
It seems that speed is not one of the qualities of the new IPHONE 3G. So before you buy it, maybe you should stop and think if it’s not going to bother you that it’s a little sluggish. See this video for a real-world example of the operational speed of the Iphone 3G!

To be honest I have noticed little to no difference in the speed of the 3G network for my iPhone. My 3G wireless card for my laptop the difference is huge but for the iPhone it doesn’t appear much faster.
I think the iPhone 3G may be limited due to it’s internal processor but who knows really. It might be faster but I’ve yet to notice it.
Additionally I was using my original iPhone on the T-Mobile network, it was unlocked, and for the 3G i switched to AT&T and it’s been a nightmare. I get more dropped calls with AT&T than I ever got with T-Mobile.
